Hillcrest
Intermediate School is a 5th and 6th grade building. The 850 students are under the supervision of
Mrs. Rosemarie Dvorchak, Principal, and Mr. Brian Henderson, Assistant Principal,
along with 60 faculty members. Among these faculty members are two guidance
counselors: Ms. Victoria Aliberti, and Mrs. Paula Lee. Our main office secretary
is Mrs. Kim Deri and the guidance secretary is Mrs. Linda Gennaccaro.
Students in 5th
grade are divided into 8 two-teacher teams. In 5th grade, the teams are the
Grizzlies, Raiders, Expeditioneers, Patriots, Swashbucklers, Brave Buccaneers,
Amerigo's Amigos and Pathfinders. Students in 6th grade are divided into 4 four-teacher teams. The 6th grade teams are the Conquistadors, Navigators,
Trail Blazers, and Space Pirates. In
each team, students have core mathematics, language arts, science, and social
studies. In addition, students have courses in art, music, physical education,
computer applications, and library.
During their 2-year
stay at Hillcrest Intermediate, students have the opportunity to participate in
extra curricular activities. These activities such as band, orchestra, chorus, and a
variety of clubs. Students are involved in a number of integrative activities
and clubs which develop responsibility, cooperation, and social skills.
