1958

  • A joint venture of the Irwin - North Irwin Schools and the North Huntingdon Township Schools creates the Joint Norwin School District.                           Dr. Lawrence M. Douglas was named Superintendent.

1959

  • Hillcrest Elementary School Expanded

1960

  • Referendum approves the permanent joining of the Irwin - North Irwin Schools and the North Huntingdon Township Schools

  • Hartford Heights Elementary School Opens

  • Baseball wins WPIAL Championship

1961

1962

  • Shaw School was expanded by 5 rooms and a multi-purpose room

  • Football games were moved from the Shaw site to the new Knight's Stadium in the valley adjacent to the High School

1963

  • Boys Basketball wins WPIAL Championship and suffers its only loss of the season at the State Championship title game against Plymouth-Whitemarsh

  • The newly constructed Norwin High School Opens

1966

  • Dr. Lawrence Douglas retires as Superintendent of Schools

  • Mr. James Dudley begins as Superintendent of Schools

1967

1968

  • Scull Elementary School was expanded by a 10 classroom addition added to the front of the building along with a cafeteria and gym/multipurpose room.

  • Central administrators moved from the Norwin High School (later known as Junior High East) to the recently purchase McMahon home

1969

  • Stewartsville Elementary School Opens

1970

  • John B. Rodger family establishes the Rodgers Scholarship 

1971

  • Mr. Ronald Peduzzi named High School Principal

  • Girls Volleyball wins WPIAL Championship

  • Cross Country wins State Championship

1974

  • Mr. James L. Dudley retires as Superintendent of Schools

  • Mr. Charles Lauffer begins as Superintendent of Schools

  • Girls Volleyball wins WPIAL Championship

  • Girls Volleyball wins WPIAL Championship

  • Girls Volleyball wins WPIAL and State Championship

  • Boys Cross Country wins WPIAL Championship

  • Sunset Valley Elementary School Opens

  • Hartford Heights Elementary School Closes (1960 - 2003)

  • Pennsylvania Avenue Elementary School Closes (1956 - 2003)

  • Middle School West (formerly known as Junior High West) Closes (1959 - 2003)

  • Sheridan Terrace Elementary School Opens

  • Hillcrest Intermediate School Opens

  • High School Renovations Completed

  • Newly Renovated Middle School (formerly known as Middle School/Junior High West) Opens

  • Middle School East formerly Jr. High East, Norwin High School and North Huntingdon High School closes (1935/1949 - 2005)

  • Middle School East sold to the Diocese of Greensburg and becomes home to Queen of Angels School

  • Dr. Richard G. Watson retires Superintendent of Schools

  • Dr. John C. Boylan begins as Superintendent of Schools

2006
  • Girls Track wins WPIAL Championship

 

2007

  • Scull Elementary School Closes (1932 - 2007)

  • Hahntown Elementary School Opens

  • Stewartsville Elementary School Closes for renovations (1969 - 2007) a new fourth Stewartsville Elementary School will be constructed on the same site

  • Girls Track wins WPIAL Championship

2008
  • Girls Track wins WPIAL Championship

2009

  • Stewartsville Elementary projected to re-open
