Norwin Middle School
is a 7th and 8th grade building. The 880 students are under the supervision of Mr. Robert A.
Suman, Principal, and Ms. Heather C. Newell, Assistant Principal,
along with 60 faculty members. Among these faculty members are two guidance
counselors: Ms. Jennifer DiVittis, and Mr. Wes Kean. Our main office secretary
is Mrs. Janet Walczak and the guidance secretary is Mrs. Karen Fairgrieve.
Students in 7th
grade are divided into 3 five-teacher teams. In 7th grade, the teams are the
Cheetahs, Cougars and Jaguars. Students in 8th grade are divided into 3
four-teacher teams. The 8th grade teams are the Lions, Panthers, and Tigers. In
each team, students have core mathematics, language arts, science, and social
studies. In addition, students have courses in art, music, physical education,
computer applications, family and consumer science, exploratory languages, and
industrial technology.
During their 2-year
stay at Norwin Middle School, students have the opportunity to participate in
extra curricular activities. These would include band, orchestra, chorus, and a
variety of sports. Students are involved in a number of integrative activities
and clubs which develop responsibility, cooperation, and social skills.
