MATH TUTORING

This year each Math teacher at our Middle School will tutor students in math during Activity Period. Teachers will assign students to those sessions. Students may also be assigned to these sessions as requested by parents. We believe this will keep a number of students from falling behind and give other students a support system when needed.

The following teachers will be tutoring students:

Seventh Grade:

Mr. Silianoff - Monday in Room 420

Mrs. Martin - Tuesday in Room 420

Ms. Byron - Wednesday in Room 420

Eighth Grade:

Mr. Efkowitz - Monday in Room 221

Mrs. Warren - Wednesday in Room 221

Ms. Krevokuch - Thursday in Room 420

LANGUAGE ARTS TUTORING

Our Eighth Grade Language Arts teachers will be available for tutoring during Activity Period. Any eighth grade student needing help with writing assignments or homework should see the following teachers:

Mrs. Leighty - Thursday in Room 221

Ms. Lena - Tuesday in Room 221

Mrs. Scharritter - Friday in Room 221

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING -

ENGLISH, MATH, SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES

After School tutoring is available from 3:05 to 3:35 Monday through Thursday in the Middle School Library.  Tutoring services include homework help, test preparation, assistance with writing essays or completing assignments, study tips and aid, or just plain help understand the materials from class.  To participate in after school tutoring students must sign-up the MORNING of the day they are planning on staying.  Sign-ups are in the Guidance Office. Students need to list what subject and service they need and come to the Library with the appropriate class materials.  Students must also arrange a pick-up plan to get home (transportation is not provided for after school tutoring).

HONOR SOCIETY PEER TUTORING

As part of a service project for Norwin Middle School, all Honor Society Students will participate in a Peer Tutoring Program. Honor Society students will be assigned a 7th or 8th grade homeroom. Each day these students will be available during Activity Period to help with homework assignments and to help students study for tests. This program has helped many of our 7th and 8th graders become better students. Some of the skills they acquired at sessions have improved their study habits.
