Before the winter holiday break, the K-6 gifted students created holiday cards and letters for Marines deployed in Afghanistan on their 4th tour of duty. Attached below is the email Mr. Muscatell sent the class in response for the students creating the holiday cards. The Special Forces personnel are rebuilding schools and villages in the mountains of Eastern Afghanistan. Today, the 5th and 6th graders made Valentine’s Day cards for members of the same unit and also a few birthday cards for Mr. Muscatell since they are still overseas protecting our country. I have attached the three class photos and their cards.

Subject:A very sincere thank you from Afghanistan!
Dear Ms. St. Clair andStudents,
I’m writing from high in the mountains of Eastern Afghanistan. My name is John Muscatell and I am one of the recipients of the wonderful cards you sent to all of us over here. I wish I could personally thank each and every one of you for your kind words, precious thoughts, and heartfelt effort that went into the cards you sent. Receiving such items really means a lot to us and we are very grateful to have such kind and caring people back home thinking of us. It is always tough to be so far away from home for so long a time, but especially so over the holidays. Your cards arrived just before Christmas and got sent out all over the region to Special Forces personnel working in some of the most remote locations you can imagine. They brought with them some of the comfort, warmth, and joy of holidays spent back home.
Thank you all so much. You are truly great Americans and make us all proud to serve you!
