FREE Family & Student Workshops for Social & Emotional Health

Norwin School District is committed to supporting students' social and emotional health. As educators, we believe these are vital to academic achievement. Therefore, Norwin School District is offering FREE virtual parent and student workshops that address the mental health issues that our families may be facing during the challenges of the pandemic.
 
The District is pleased to provide specific workshops for parents, K-6 students, and 7-12 students. All workshops will be held virtually on the Zoom platform, and will be presented by Rachel Butler-Pardi, LSW, and Jana Merriman, LSW. Details and registration information are provided below.
 
These workshops are open to Norwin School District students and families.

Understanding Your Child's Emotional Health:

A Parent Workshop 

Thursday, February 18, 2021 |  6:30 - 8:00pm

Please join us for an evening to discuss topics related to the grief and loss in the pandemic, including helping our children navigate a changing support system at school, loss of activities and sporting events that have been a staple in our community for many years, and navigating different relationships with your children at home. Our evening together will provide education and discussion on all of these issues. You will have the opportunity to receive a "tool" bag that has resources you can use at home with your family. We will also discuss a plan to incorporate the ideas learned into your family routine. We will be holding a separate event for students.
 
Please register for the parent workshop by Monday, February 15, 2021.

The Positivity Brigade:

A Student Workshop for Grades K-6

Monday, February 22, 2021 | 6:00 - 7:00pm

 

This workshop is open to students grades K-6 in the Norwin School District. We will be discussing grief and losselementary issues related to the challenging and changing times. These include loss of consistent school schedule, changing the way we play with friends, and technology being a staple for school.
 
In this workshop, we will explore the role of emotions in dealing with these issues and discuss and practice various ways to cope with these challenges. You may also receive some "tools" to take with you to start your own practice of self-care.This workshop will be specifically geared toward elementary students. Please register by Friday, February 19, 2021.

 


Mending Mindsets:

A Student Workshop for Grades 7-12

Monday, February 22, 2021 | 7:00 - 8:00pm


This workshop is open to students grades 7-12 in the Norwin School District.
