St. Vincent Drug & Alcohol Prevention Presentations for Students, Families
The Saint Vincent College Prevention Projects is committed to working together with families, schools, and community to provide the most effective Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs and Violence Prevention Services.
Saint Vincent Prevention Projects will continue to be provided to Norwin students via Zoom during the school day. This year, Saint Vincent is also offering a Zoom presentation that can be viewed during evenings by students and their families.
All elementary prevention education presentations are conducted using the R.E.A.L (Realistic Education About Life) program, which is an approved curriculum by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs. The interactive lessons have been designed for individual grade levels from grades kindergarten through grade 6. Lessons include student activities, videos and enrichment follow-up materials. Topic areas include drug information, self-concept, coping/relating skills, decision making, and violence prevention skills.
The curriculum meets the Act 211 of 1990 Empowerment Goals established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
All Prevention Projects programs of are based on current research and best practice, and Prevention Projects’ staff continually updates their professional qualifications through the Pennsylvania Certification Board as Prevention Specialists.
