Work crews are preparing the infield of the Norwin main campus softball field for the installation of new artificial turf. It is anticipated that the project will be completed by late October.
This project is part of a larger capital projects initiative that also replaced the artificial turf in Norwin Knights Stadium this summer, along with the resurfacing and repainting of the stadium track, which is tentatively scheduled to be completed in October. Savings were realized based on multi-field projects performed in conjunction with nearby school districts.
These projects were undertaken to improve the conditions of the playing fields, which have a direct impact upon the safety of our students who use the facilities. Additionally, the costs associated with yearly maintenance of an artificial turf are less than those of an infield dirt mix, which will result in a yearly decrease in maintenance costs.
We are excited for our softball teams and Physical Education classes to use the facility in the spring!
