The Norwin choirs did not let the global pandemic stop them from honoring our Veterans. On November 11, the Norwin Combined Choirs from Norwin High School and Norwin Middle School released a video tribute titled, A Salute to Veterans.
This video featured Norwin Choir students in grades 7-12, as well as the High School Junior ROTC cadets. This video also honored 75 community members who have served.
The video can be found at https://youtu.be/wCba1eZsRKs or on YouTube.com by searching for the Norwin Live channel.
"We decided to do a virtual performance to honor those who have fought for our freedom," said Mrs. Lauren Scheirer, one of the choral directors.
The Norwin Combined Choirs includes Bel Canto Women's Choir, Chamber Singers, Show Choir, Concert Choir, Freshman Choir, as well as featuring the 7th/8th grade choirs. The Norwin Combined Choirs is a part of the Norwin School District located in North Huntingdon, PA.
Mrs. Kye-Won Doyle, a long-term substitute who served as a music teacher, added, "having students sing and record their contribution from the safety of their own homes was a great way to continue music in the schools and honor our Veterans."
The choirs also sent thank you cards to veterans and to the men and women currently serving overseas.
