Mock Accident Provides Sobering Reminder of the Dangers of Distracted Driving

Hundreds of High School students received an important warning about the dangers of distracted driving this week. On Thursday, May 13, Norwin High School's Students Against Destructive Decisions club held its annual "Mock Accident" program.
The program brings students face to face with a simulated car accident scene, which features emergency responders and fellow students role-playing as accident victims. During the program, students also hear from local families who tragically lost loved ones in drunk or distracted driving accidents. The timing of the annual Mock Accident program is intentional: The club wants fellow students to keep this warning top of mind as they head into prom and graduation season.
Thursday's mock accident was made possible with support from the North Huntingdon Township Police Department, the Circleville Fire Department, North Huntingdon EMS / Rescue, Snyder Funeral Home, CORE (the Center for Organ Recovery and Education), the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office, Mrs Susan Lysell, and Lenhart's Service Center.
