This award, sponsored by the NAMM Foundation, recognizes the Norwin community for the outstanding efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders to promote music education as a part of a well-rounded education.
“This award ensures that the Norwin School District is known both regionally and nationally as a school district that values music as an essential aspect of every child's education,” said Mr. Brandon Kandrack, Music Department Curriculum Leader. “Through the efforts made by our music educators, administrators, school board, and community Norwin students receive an engaging and fulfilling musical education, which is why our District was once again selected for this distinction.”
Now in its 24th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Norwin School District answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
