Exciting news! The new playground at Hahntown Elementary School is almost done! The old playground was outdated and in desperate need of a refresh. The equipment was out of date and not as enjoyable for the kids as it once was.
According to an article from TribLIVE, students at Hahntown Elementary were given a survey of their favorite things to do on a playground and how their playground could be more fun. Their top requests showed they wanted higher slides, more swings, and an obstacle course. These suggestions, along with concerns about the old equipment, were all taken into consideration when designing and building the new playground.
The new playground includes all the features students asked for, as well as sensory pieces that will ensure a more inclusive experience for all children. These upgrades will create an amazing space for the students that attend Hahntown Elementary as well the community.
Plans to renovate all Norwin School District playgrounds began three years ago. Hahntown is the first school to have its playground project approved and completed. Renovations at all elementary schools, including Hillcrest Intermediate, are scheduled to be finished by 2028.
