Lead Testing
Lead Testing in Norwin School District
To protect students, staff, and visitors from potential lead exposure in drinking water, Pennsylvania amended the Public School Code through Act 39 of 2018. This law requires schools to take steps to ensure the safety of their drinking water, including:
- Encouraging annual testing for lead
- Requiring schools that do not test to publicly discuss lead-related issues
- Implementing a corrective plan if results exceed the EPA’s lead action level of 15 parts per billion (ppb)
Norwin School District Testing Results
The Facilities Department conducts annual lead testing in all Norwin School District buildings.
This year’s results:
✅ All water samples tested were below the EPA limit of 15 ppb.
If Elevated Levels Are Found
If future water samples exceed the EPA action level of 15 ppb, the District will immediately:
- Prevent access to any affected drinking water sources
- Provide alternative safe drinking water
- Take corrective actions as required
Additionally, as mandated by Act 39 of 2018, elevated results will be reported to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
