Titles I & II
What is Title I?
Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), is one of the nation’s oldest and largest federally funded education programs. This program provides financial assistance to our district to meet the needs of educationally at-risk students.
Title I services three Elementary Schools in the Norwin School District: Hahntown Elementary, Sheridan Terrace Elementary and Stewartsville Elementary.
The goal of Title I is to provide extra instructional services and activities which support students identified as not meeting or most at risk of not meeting the state’s challenging performance standards in reading and or math.
What is Title II?
Title II, Part A (Teacher Quality) is part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). The purpose of this program is to increase academic achievement by improving teacher and principal quality.
Norwin School District utilizes Title II funds to provide Class Size Reduction and Professional Development opportunities to teachers and administrators. The purpose of all professional development provided with these funds is to increase the academic achievement of Norwin School District students.
