ESSER Grant Information
Congress set aside approximately $13.2 billion for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund. Signed into law on March 27, 2020, the United States of America Department of Education awarded grants to State educational agencies (such as the Pennsylvania Department of Education) for the purpose of providing local education agencies (such as public school districts) with emergency funds to address the impact that COVID-19 has had, and continues to have, on elementary and secondary schools across the Nation.
The Norwin School District has applied for and received several ESSER Grants. These funds were and are being used to purchase items and materials to support instruction and learning.
Specifically, the ARP-ESSER III Grant requires an updated Health and Safety Plan to be written by each applicant to reflect current federal and state requirements related to COVID-19 and its mitigation in the school setting. The Norwin School District published its 2021-2022 Health and Safety Plan and continues to update it, with Board of Education approval.
