Parent Emergency Procedures

In order for our emergency response plans to be effective, we must depend on the cooperation and assistance of many people, such as local police, emergency and fire departments. We also depend upon the parents of our students to support our efforts. Your cooperation is vital to helping us protect the safety and welfare of all children and school employees. Therefore, we ask parents to observe the following procedures during a crisis situation:

Please Do:

  • Keep your contact information updated in Skyward Family Access and in the school office. Contact your student’s school office to make any changes.
  • Check for communications from Norwin School District.
  • Click here for procedures to ensure you receive information in the event of an immediate emergency that requires parental assistance.
  • Click here for procedures to ensure you receive non-emergency issues information text messages.
  • Talk to your children. Emphasize how important it is for them to follow instructions from their teachers and school officials during an emergency.
  • If you see something, say something and encourage your children to do the same.
  • Call 911 to report suspicious incidents or behavior that is time-sensitive and requires immediate attention.

Please Do Not:

  • DO NOT come to the school or evacuation location until you are instructed to do so. It may be necessary to keep the streets and parking lot clear for emergency vehicles.
  • DO NOT telephone the school. We understand and respect your concern, but it is essential that the telephone system be available for emergency communications.
  • DO NOT post inaccurate or unverified information on social media. Posting inaccurate or unverified information may cause danger to our school community.
